QlikTech Makes Business Intelligence Easier
QlikTech says its latest release offers enterprise-class BI software with the ease of a consumer application.
QlikTech (NASDAQ: QLIK) today unveiled QlikView 10, the latest version of its business intelligence software that the company says provides enterprise-class BI in an easy-to-use format.
Anthony Deighton, Qlik's senior vice president of products, said the combination of ease of use and powerful features give the company a bigger market than typical enterprise business intelligence vendors, as evidenced by QLik's 15,000 customers and 60 percent growth rate so far this year. The company, whose customers include Campbell's Soup and Toyota, had a successful IPO in July (see Qlik IPO Shows How Hot Business Intelligence Is).
QlikView 10 adds enhanced search capabilities, greater performance and improved management, among other new features.
Deighton said QlikView's "associative search" capability is its most unique feature. Similar to Google's new Instant Search, the feature uses in-memory data to provide instant results, and data relationships are connected so users can "navigate their own path" and find the results they want, even if their search terms are incomplete, said Deighton. QlikView 10 extends Associative Search into every listbox across every dashboard.
Other new features include Mekko charts so users can show relationships and ratios among dimensional values within a bar chart, and analytics get the ability to refine or change selections via a drop-down list for each selection.
Performance gets a big boost thanks to QlikView 10's new asynchronous AJAX support, which allows data objects to refresh in real-time without refreshing the entire screen, and partial results are returned even as results are still being calculated. Core calculation enhancements and multi-threaded reloads are built for multi-core CPUs, which the company claims leads to 200 to 1,000 percent data loading performance improvement. QlikView 10 also scales to tens of thousands of connected users and billions of records.
QlikView 10 also includes new application integration, visualization and customization features, and centralized management allows for load balancing, administration, refresh scheduling and compliance features like end-user usage audit logging. The software can consolidate data from any source, such as BI, CRM and ERP applications from the likes of Oracle, SAP and Salesforce.com, among other data sources.
