Social Business Intelligence enhances the intelligence gathered from traditional resources.

According to this SmartData Collective report on social business intelligence, BI and the systems and firms that collect data are headed in a new direction with the inclusion of social media conversations. Today, business intelligence sources are competing with new sources – Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media platforms.

"Rob Karel, a principal analyst with Forrester Research, says that social media is continually growing as the preferred way large companies are communicating with several audiences – customers, partners and shareholders.
