The Boston CRM software maker's 9-month search for a CEO ends with the appointment of Paul Kelly, formerly with Portal Software.

Quadstone's 9-month search for a permanent CEO has ended. The Boston maker of customer relationship management (CRM) software, has named Paul Kelly, formerly with Portal Software, as CEO.

He succeeds founding director and interim CEO Nicholas Radcliffe, who moves to COO. Radcliffe was tapped as CEO in July following the departure of Neil Heywood

Kelly has 20 years of technology industry experience. As Portal's European director, he increased sales of the firm's CRM and billing software by 200 percent on the continent.

Previously, Kelly was the U.K. managing director for Sequent Computers, where he was responsible for 500 employees.

"As the market is beginning to understand the key role of analytics in delivering value from CRM investments, Paul's experience will help us capitalize on our existing market position and technological edge," Radcliffe said.

The executive move follows the release of version 4 of the Quadstone System and new customer wins with First National Bank, Siebel Systems and Deloitte Consulting.

Privately held Quadstone was founded in 1995 in Edinburgh, Scotland, where it retains a development center and regional headquarters. Its offerings combine high-performance computing with statistical modeling. It has customers in the banking, telecom, insurance and retail sectors.
