Hashicorp announced on Oct. 24 that it has raised a news Series C round of funding, bringing in $40 million. The Series C round was led by GGV Capital and Redpoint, and it included the participation of Mayfield and True Ventures. Total funding to date for Hashicorp now stands at $74 million.

HashiCorp supports a number of open-source projects, including Vagrant and Vault, which have then served as the basis on which broader, enterprise-grade platforms are built.

“Broad usage of our products by operations, security, and development professionals has meant that HashiCorp products play an increasingly critical role for many large enterprises as they adopt cloud,” Dave McJannet, CEO of HashiCorp, stated. “Our products provide consistent workflows to provision, secure, connect, and run any infrastructure, so we are uniquely positioned to help enterprises address the realities of multi-cloud.”

At the company’s HashiConf 2017 events in September, HashiCorp announced a number of new products including the Sentinel policy-as-code framework for cloud infrastructure automation.

“Sentinel limits exposure by codifying business and regulatory policies to ensure infrastructure changes are safe, and making organizations’ adoption of cloud more manageable,” Mitchell Hashimoto, founder and co-CTO of HashiCorp, stated. “Together, infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code empower users to safely and quickly provision, secure, connect, and run any infrastructure for any application.”

The infrastructure-as-code elements of HashiCorp’s portfolio also got a boost at HashiConf. The Vault 0.8.3 secrets management platform was updated with support for the Kubernetes container orchestration platform.

The Consul project reached its 1.0 milestone, providing users with a distributed service discovery platform. The Nomad scheduling system is also advancing, and HashiCorp announced the first beta of a commercially supported enterprise release.

“As an ever-larger number of Global 2000 organizations move from static, on-premises infrastructures to dynamic architectures spanning multiple clouds, we are working to provide the blueprints and infrastructure automation capabilities to help them succeed,” Armon Dadgar, founder and co-CTO of HashiCorp stated. “We are investing in HashiCorp to support the world’s largest organizations, while continuing to build products practitioners love, for IT operators, security teams, and application developers.”
