Oracle’s OpenWorld event was a coming-out party for the ERP and CRM giant’s Fusion platform, which Oracle CEO Larry Ellison touted as supporting “a complete integrated suite of ERP, Human Capital Management, CRM, Supply Chain Management and many other applications.”

Yet Oracle also reassured users of products such as Siebel CRM, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and the Oracle E-Business Suite that they could adopt Fusion at their own pace. Steve Miranda, Oracle’s senior vice president of application development, said Oracle’s Applications Unlimited initiative allows customers to “cull the best from existing systems and incrementally adopt without the expense of a complete overhaul.” In particular, Fusion will ease Oracle customers’  move to the cloud, Miranda said.

As if to make the point that it wouldn’t neglect any of its software lines, Oracle rolled out improvements to PeopleSoft and JD Edwards applications.

Oracle (ORCL) yesterday announced several tweaks to its JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools, designed to appeal both to business users and IT administrators. The update includes a redesigned user interface, featuring a configurable homepage, new menu options and updated process maps, as well as enhanced management capabilities that allow IT admins to define memory usage thresholds and alerts for process remediation.

The release also includes new reporting functionality, primarily advanced query capabilities that help users more easily gain access to data needed to make business decisions. A drop down menu that offers a view of the status and output of reports is another goodie for business users.

In addition, high availability and disaster recovery enhancements increase the resiliency of business services and transaction servers, which should help eliminate a single point of failure.

Lyle Ekdahl, group vice president general manager, JD Edwards, said the new release “makes it significantly easier to install, manage and upgrade JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications.”
