The Boston maker of software to manage mailing lists adds Consumer Credit Counseling Services, a San Francisco provider of money management info., to its customer list.

QAS, a Boston maker of software to help companies manage mailing lists, has won a contract with Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS), a San Francisco provider of money management information and assistance.

QAS' flagship product, QuickAddress, uses post office data to validate customer addresses at the point of data entry. Financial terms were not disclosed. CCCS joins a customer list that includes HSBC, AXA Sun Life and Credit Suisse.

"QuickAddress can typically find any address in North America in 15 keystrokes or less," said Jonathan Hulford-Funnell, QAS' COO. "Each address is validated against the U.S. Postal Service database of 150 million addresses before allowing it to be entered into CCCS' database. The address is then entered in a format that is compatible with CCCS' underlying application."

Before implementing QuickAddress, CCCS devoted at least 10 man-hours per week manually tracking and correcting pieces of undeliverable and returned mail. According to a productivity study conducted the first month QuickAddress was implemented, the number of returns dropped significantly.

"Mailing monthly statements to 18,000 customers, we needed an address management system that would ensure each customer file is built on a complete, accurate address and that important financial information would be mailed to our clients correctly, the first time," said Bill Prevost, CCCS' System Administrator.

QAS is privately held and was founded in 1990. It has offices in the United States, Europe and Australia.
