Quest Software is entering the business intelligence (BI) tools fray with new software that the company has named Toad Business Intelligence Suite.

According to Quest, the software, which follows in the tradition of the company’s Toad database developer tools, eliminates many of the complexities involved in linking business intelligence platforms with distributed Big Data sources and automates multi-step data flow processes. The aim is to help organizations unlock BI’s potential by allowing them to embark on self-service data integration projects.

Ultimately, Quest seeks to knock down the technical barriers that are keeping business insights locked away and out of the reach of decision makers, says Darin Bartik, vice president and general manager of Database Management for Quest Software. “Toad Business Intelligence Suite seamlessly delivers capabilities that meet the needs of both data provisioners and data consumers, bringing data sources together and sharing them in views most relevant to each user,” said Bartik in a statement.

“By opening access to organizational data in a manner that conserves data governance and security controls, Toad BI lets companies unlock the value within their existing IT and BI investments, saving both time and money,” added Bartik.

In keeping with that goal, Toad Business Intelligence Suite includes the following tools:

  • Toad Intelligence Central – A virtual analytic data layer that snaps into existing IT and BI architectures and makes data visible and shareable via the suite’s desktop tools.
  • Toad Data Point desktop tool – Enables analytic data analysts to connect “to nearly all traditional and non-traditional data sources through an intuitive dashboard,” according to Quest. It also offers routine task automation plus transform and cleanse capabilities.
  • Toad Decision Point desktop tool – Provides end users interactive views with which to explore and analyze data with a minimum of IT intervention.  Toad Decision Point also “speeds data analysis and reporting without impacting corporate governance standards,” says the company.

Quest Software’s Toad Business Intelligence Suite is available now. Prices start at $1,295 per named user, with a minimum of five seats.
