Steve Herrod is one of the better known venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, investing millions into the next big thing. Herrod is a managing partner at General Catalyst partners, which has multiple types of technology investments.

Among the companies that Herrod has invested in is Runscope, a company that builds API performance management tools. Microservices, which are available via APIs, are increasingly common. However, it’s not always easy to fully enable them for developers to build high-performance apps. That’s where Runscope comes into play.

“They are doing quite well and are signing up more than 2,000 customers a month,” Herrod said. “They are all facing the notion of needing to produce an API or they have to consume an API.”

“For me, this is all about how future applications are being written,” Herrod added.
