The Westborough, Mass., business software maker names a 20-year industry vet to oversee business intelligence technology.
Applix, a Westborough, Mass., business software maker, has named Howard Spielman, Ph.D., vice president of business intelligence technology.Spielman will oversee applications built on Applix Integra, the platform that integrates business planning, performance measurement and operational data to help companies better manage customers.
"The challenge is to clearly represent the true meaning of a wealth of data in the most intelligible ways possible, empowering each of our users to make better decisions every day," Spielman said.
Spielman has 20 years of industry experience. Prior to Applix, he served as a business intelligence consultant in a wide variety of industries, including agribusiness, banking and finance, consumer packaged goods, healthcare, insurance, and pharmaceuticals.
He also held a number of senior development posts at the former Digital Equipment Corporation, in Maynard, Mass.
Applix recently announced that it signed 34 new customers in the current quarter.
