Applix Names Neil Follett

Former founder of the Compact Group and Baan exec will manage European operations for the CRM provider.

Neil Follett will manage the European operations for Applix, Inc., developer of the iCRM collaborative suite of solutions that automate Web-based marketing, sales, customer service, partner service, quality assurance and helpdesks.

"Neil is a seasoned executive whose successes include building a multi-national, multi-million dollar software sales, service and consulting organization. He has a great breadth and depth of experience in European markets," said Applix president & CEO Alan Goldsworthy.

Follett brings professional experience that is well suited for his position at Applix. With a BA in Economics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Columbia, Follett worked for Olivetti, first in European Marketing and then as a Regional Manager. He then founded international software and services developer, the Compact Group, which was sold to enterprise solutions provider Baan in 1998. Subsequently, Follett was European Vice President for the Automotive Division of Baan.

"Historically, Applix's strong position in Europe has been a major factor in our success in meeting the needs of international clients. Under Neil's direction, we expect that our European operation will continue to be a significant contributor to the financial performance of the company. This management change is not expected to negatively impact Applix's prior or current quarterly performance. We are delighted to have Neil join our team," said Goldsworthy.

In efforts to further expand its international base, Applix recently made significant strides to attain customers in Asia.

Follett replaces Michael Scheib who joined Applix in 1993 as German Country Manager and became Vice President of European Operations in 1997. Scheib resigned from the company to pursue other interests after a brief transitional period.

The Westboro, Mass. provider of interactive planning, CRM analytics and business intelligence solutions was named one of the top ten CRM implementations for 2000 by Aberdeen Group.
