New decision management software is gaining traction.
A new brand of business process management (BPM) called "decision management" software is gaining traction according to analysts. This Managing Automation report suggests that this new decision management discipline and the technology that enables it will gain stature as business leaders recognize the importance of shifting from an artful approach to decision-making to a more scientific one.
"The nascent field has been branded 'decision management' by researchers at IDC, whose report, Worldwide Decision Management Software 20102014 Forecast, posits that this new discipline and the technology that enables it will gain stature as business leaders recognize the importance of shifting from an artful approach to decision-making to a more scientific one. IDC expects this realization to help supercharge demand for this new brand of business process management tools. IDC forecasts that this will vault the decision-management software market, which encompasses platforms, applications, and component technology, to $10.8 billion by 2014, a 15.8% annual growth pace."
