For a generation of IT users, the name Citrix is typically synonymous with remote desktop access. In the pre-cloud era, the remote access was from outside of the office to a data center, but in the modern mobile and cloud era, needs have changed.

Among the new products and services announced by Citrix at its Synergy event his week is the Citrix Workspace Service.

“Citrix Workspace is a cloud-based service that helps deliver a unified workspace for secure delivery of ALL apps and data and not just Citrix resources,” George Kuruvilla, a Principal Sales Engineer with the US Enterprise team at Citrix, wrote in a blog post. “This new service will replace the existing StoreFront service that is part of Citrix Cloud, and support not only the Citrix Cloud hosted services but on-premises XenApp and XenDesktop deployments, as well as the Azure based XenApp and XenDesktop Essentials offerings. “

Citrix’s XenApp and XenDesktop Essentials were first made available in the Microsoft Azure marketplace on April 3, 2017 The products provide a core set of XenApp (application virtualization) and XenDesktop (desktop virtualization) capabilities. At Synergy, Citrix demonstrated a new interface that is intended to make the essential Xen products, easier to use.

Security is top of mind across all aspects of IT which where the new Citrix Analytics solution fits in.

“By employing a wide set of machine learning algorithms,  Citrix Analytics correlates and analyzes this cross-product data to detect and isolate risky user activities whether they stem from a negligent internal employee or malicious external attacker, Kedarnath Poduri, Senior Director of Product Management & Product Marketing, wrote in a blog post.
