OpenText, a Canada-based provider of enterprise information management (EIM) software, has updated its OpenText Tempo product line with new social collaboration capabilities, as well as note-taking and organizing functionality and enterprise file synchronization and share.

OpenText’s new bundled offering, which is available now, includes Tempo Box 10.5, Tempo Note and Tempo Social 8.5. The combination of Tempo Box, Tempo Note and Tempo Social enables content sharing and facilitates collaborative dialogue, according to the company.

“With the shift in communication models from hierarchical to social, enterprises want to accelerate the flow of information to make decisions faster at all levels of the organization,” said Muhi Majzoub, senior vice president Engineering at OpenText, in a statement. “By embedding social collaboration capabilities into existing and new EIM applications, we can extend the social experience across our product suites to deliver an engaging, secure and productive work environment.”

The Tempo offering also gives customers an easier and more secure way to coordinate collaboration in a business environment, by combining file sync and share with social collaboration and integration to Content Server. All structured and unstructured information is made available and kept in sync with Content Server, providing one data model in a common repository with multiple views which can be leveraged to enable compliance.

Among the new features:

  • Tempo Note, a new capability of Tempo Box, gives users an integrated note-taking tool to capture ideas, share thoughts, record meeting notes, add context to file sync and share activities.
  • With the Tempo Social app, users will be able to post and reply to status updates, upload photos, browse and search user profiles, follow their colleagues, share blog posts and more.
  • Tempo Social now has a hybrid HTML5-based mobile application available out-of-the-box as part of the AppWorks Mobile suite. The mobile application will be available on iOS and Android platforms.

OpenText Tempo also integrates with the company’s OpenText Experience Suite, a set of customer experience management applications which includes offerings that are designed to help create an interactive and consistent online experience across multiple channels, mobile devices and social networks.

A new set of APIs, available through the OpenText AppWorks Gateway, provides a common RESTful API tier which exposes all of the Tempo functionality, making it easy for OpenText customers and partners to write custom applications or integrate with their existing systems.
