IBM, U of Ottawa Announce Analytics Research Center

IBM Corp. and The University of Ottawa have partnered to create the new 'IBM Centre for Performance Management'. The center will receive a $3.8-million investment from IBM in cash and technology over the next five years. According to this Ottawa Citizen story, the new institution will focus on research and development aimed at helping businesses deal with the deluge of information that is being created by people all over the world.


“The new centre will receive a $3.8-million investment from IBM in cash and technology over the next five years. The university adds an additional $1 million to IBM's contribution in order to set up the school. The centre will be part of the university's Telfer School of Management Studies.

“The new research centre will see IBM share the knowledge it gained from the acquisition of Ottawa-based Cognos Inc., which specialized in helping companies mine through piles of data.”
