TIBCO Adds Social Collaboration to Spotfire 4.0 Business Intelligence Platform
New release also offers contextual collaboration and integration with Microsoft SharePoint.
TIBCO Software (NASDAQ: TIBX) has announced a new version of its business intelligence platform, Spotfire 4.0. The latest version mainly focuses on making collaboration easy and accessible and sports new features for contextual collaboration, collective intelligence and social collaboration for better clarity of visual data discovery.
"The strengths of the Spotfire platform has always been in highly interactive visualizations and the ability to allow people to really get their hands on the data to visualize it and interact with it to get insights the quickest," said Lou Bajuk, senior director of product management for TIBCO Spotfire. "A key part of our philosophy is to empower the end user to create their own data mash-ups, pulling data from multiple sources across the organization and get those actionable insights the fastest."
With this free dimensional data exploration, the new features in Spotfire 4.0 expands traditional analytics by delivering contextual and social collaboration capabilities that puts this type of social data insight within relevant business context.
"Spotfire 4.0 serves a wide range of data analysts and information consumers. Users can move seamlessly between data discovery and analytic application creation, consistently employing best practices for data analysis," said TIBCO Software.
The new social collaboration features in Spotfire 4.0 are enhanced by TIBCO's enterprise social computing platform, tibbr. With Spotfire 4.0 users can actively follow an analysis subject or author, create a new discussion workspace around an insight or decision, embed a discussion thread into an analysis or even initiate video conferencing or desktop sharing via a single click to initiate a live Spotfire Meeting.
"In addition to being able to post your analysis up to tibbr and have people discuss it there, you can embed a view of a tibbr subject in to your analysis," said Bajuk. "Now, you have a live view of what people are saying about your analysis or general business problem – directly from within the analysis – so you can see it in context of the work you're doing."
Also available in this version is contextual collaboration, a new way of putting analysis in the right business context so individuals and groups can do more meaningful analysis, discover more important insights and make better decisions.
"The new collaboration features in Spotfire 4.0 build on existing features, including universal search, collaborative bookmarks, and the ability to easily share analyses across an organization. Users can search by keyword and instantly identify all associated data points across the analysis," said TIBCO.
In addition to the new collaboration features, Spotfire 4.0 also offers new capabilities that are designed to improve the user experience by allowing analysts to tailor flexible, interactive dashboards for information consumers that replace dozens of static dashboards. Spotfire's analytic applications and dashboards can be easily created without programming or IT support.
Spotfire 4.0, available November 2011, also offers Spotfire for iPad with fully interactive, analytic dashboards and visualizations that can be exported to images or PDF files.
