In the world of DevOps, Puppet is one of the foundational companies. It provides multiple products, including its namesake open source Puppet configuration management technology.

The market and demand for enterprise configuration management is a growing one, and Puppet is looking to capitalize on the opportunity with a $42 million round of funding announced on June 27, bringing total funding up to $149 million.

The new round was led by Cisco Investments and included the participation of EDBI, Kleiner Perkins, True Ventures and VMware.

“Businesses put increasingly massive pressure on enterprise IT — so it’s important that those IT organizations partner with technology providers with compelling innovation, world-class support and a global community of experts,” Rob Salvagno, VP of Corporate Development and Cisco Investments, wrote in a statement. “Puppet has a track record of empowering its customers with all of these critical elements.”

Puppet has been busy in 2018, acquiring data visualization-as-a-service vendor Reflect on June 7.

“Reflect helps organizations transform their raw data into visual stories that are easy to understand,” Alex Bilmes, CEO and co-founder, Reflect, wrote in a statement. “With Puppet’s technology and expertise, we are able to capture an incredibly rich dataset, unlike any other available today. By joining forces we will be able to deliver value from that data through beautiful charts, visualizations and interactive data tools.”

Earlier this year on April 25, the company announced its Puppet Enterprise 2018.1 update, which added the new Puppet Discovery IT asset inventory capability.

“Our rapid growth and international expansion is a testament to the rising demand for DevOps transformation, software automation and the pressing need for enterprises to navigate the new world of software delivery,” Sanjay Mirchandani, CEO, Puppet, wrote in a statement. “That s why we’ve been so focused on expanding our product portfolio—to empower customers to discover, deliver and operate software across their cloud and containerized environments.”
