Before any company deploys any web or mobile app, it needs to test, and that’s where Sauce Labs fits in. Sauce Labs announced on November 15 that it has raised a $70 million series E round of funding. The new capital will be used to help Sauce Labs expands its go-to-market and engineering efforts.

The new round of funding was led by Centerview Capital Technology, IVP and Adams Street Partners. Total funding to date for Sauce Labs now stands at $101 million.

Sauce Labs is the lead commercial sponsor behind the open-source Selenium browser testing framework and the Appium mobile testing platform. Sauce Labs first began its efforts to build a business on top of Selenium back in 2010, when the company raised a $3.1 million Series A financing round. At the time, Selenium built its Sauce Labs IDE and On Demand as a Software-as-a-Service approach to enabling organization to easily benefit from automated testing capabilities.

Over the years, Sauce Labs has expanded on the Selenium and Appium base and now offers its customers an automated testing platform service as well as cross browsers, mobile and manual testing services.

“With Sauce Labs, our customers test up to ten times faster and no longer have to focus valuable resources on managing test infrastructure. In the new economy—where every business is a software business—this provides our customers with a significant advantage,” Charles Ramsey, CEO of Sauce Labs, said in a statement.
