VMware Acquires Apteligent for Mobile Application Performance Insight

VMware continues to expand its application performance portfolio.

VMware is aiming to advance its end-user computing portfolio with the acquisition of Apteligent. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Apteligent provides application performance monitoring and visiblity for mobile software. The privately-held company was founded in 2011 under the name Crittercism and had raised $49 million in venture funding.

"We have the capability to model and predict how app performance impacts revenue, churn, and engagement," Andrew Levy and Robert Kwok, co-founders of Aptelgient, wrote in a letter to customers. "Apteligent’s focus on data insights and actionable, intelligent recommendations accelerates digital transformation for the enterprise."

VMware plans to add Apteligent to its portfolio of management and monitoring technologies .

"We will work to leverage and integrate Apteligent’s innovative technologies within our digital workspace platform to help enterprise developers with end-to-end performance management, user behavior analytics and business insights," Sumit Dhawan, VMware End-User Computing SVP and general manager of desktop products and solutions, wrote in a blog post.

The acquisition of Apteligent follows other recent VMware moves in the same space. On April 12, VMware announced the acquisition of Wavefront, which provides real-time monitoring analytics for cloud applications. In June 2016, VMware acquired Arkin providing additional insight into the network behavior of applications.
