OpenText announced a series of platform updates on Nov. 7 that expand the capabilities of the company’s enterprise information management (EIM) technologies.

Among the updates are the OpenText Release 16 Enhancement Pack 5 (EP5) milestone and the OpenText Business Network Cloud 16.10 release. OpenText is also boosting its OT2 cloud platform with new capabilities and a partnership with Google.

OpenText Release 16 Enhancement Pack 5 (EP5)

The core OpenText EIM platform is being updated with new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities via the OpenText Magellan technology, which was first announced back in July 2017. The new AI features provide sentiment analysis and predictive research features.

OpenText is also expanding integration across its other assets, including OpenText Information Hub, OpenText EnCase Endpoint Security and OpenText AppWorks, so users can benefit from a more seamless experience moving information in and out of the various solutions.

The user experience is being improved in a number of ways, including updates to mobile apps and enhanced developer controls. According to OpenText, a highlight of EP5 is addition of the Smart UI for Documentum D2, further building towards a common, flexible, responsive UI across OpenText content service.

OpenText acquired Documentum from Dell EM for $1.62 billion in January 2017.

OT2

OT2 is OpenText’s cloud platform providing software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications.

Multiple new applications have been added to OT2, including OpenText Legal Center, which is a vertical industry service for specialized legal use cases like client onboarding and document management. OpenText is also adding its OpenText Quality Center to OT2, which provides a secure collaboration offering for the life sciences sector.

Going a step further in the cloud, OpenText announced that its OpenText Anywhere services will be available through Google Cloud.

“Enterprise adoption of the cloud is soaring, and OpenText’s cloud strategy — including OT2 — makes it possible for customers to securely access their content-rich business applications with hybrid, on-premises, or public cloud deployments,” Mark J. Barrenechea, OpenText vice chair, CEO and CTO, wrote in a statement. “By enabling customers to access information and data through cloud-based applications, we are increasing the value and reach of business-critical information for our customers.”
