An Interview With Infor
According to Greg Corgan, President Global Field Operations, Corporate Senior VP, Infor, if you only pick the manufacturing and distribution verticals worldwide, the company has more customers than SAP and Oracle combined. In this Information Week interview, Infor talks about the challenges of taking on heavyweights such as SAP and Oracle.
“Customers are not demanding the base ERP solution to be delivered as a service and are investing a significant amount of money in going after peripheral applications. We have a number of solutions such as our expense management solution that can be offered as a multi-tenant hosted service. In about five years from now we will have all our solutions available via a cloud option.
“For now, we are starting with the ones that we think will have traction— such as expense management, EAM, and a few supply chain components.
“We will give the customer the option of having the solution deployed on premise, or have it hosted by us, or have it delivered via a multi-tenant SaaS model. We’ll eventually have a platform of services to choose from a cloud catalog. However, this is easier said than done since the multi-tenant capabilities and the upgrades and changes to the applications demand a lot in terms of technologies and we will have to work on it.”
