Previous to using its BlackBerry-based CRM system, RIDGID, part of Emerson Professional Tools, said the salesperson had to take out a laptop to enter new information and then find an Internet connection and upload the data. Also noted in this BlackBerry Central story is that the app leverages GPS to link customer data to the salesperson’s location, uses dropdown menus to enable quick data entry and also offers access to a full range of key information via the BlackBerry.

“While the company initially considered a wide range of difference mobile device options, Daw says, the BlackBerry ultimately made the most sense. ‘As we looked at the different platforms from a development standpoint, BlackBerry certainly fit our skills best, because it’s all Java code… and that’s what we do a lot of other enterprise development with,’ he says. ‘And it’s a secure platform that we’d worked with in the past, the form factors met everyone’s needs, and it was on all of the different carriers.'”
