The product was created to integrate marketing, sales and service processes within a scalable and flexible architecture that enables Oracle-centric companies to maximize their exiting investment. The n-tiered, modular architecture is based on the latest industry standards including COM+, XML SOAP and Web services. The architecture includes a data services layer that manages all data transactions; an application layer that manages business rules and workflow; and a presentation layer that defines the end user experience. The capabilities of the data services layer allows Pivotal to support multiple heterogeneous database platforms within a single customer implementation.
The core of the solution architecture is the Pivotal Demand Chain Platform, which contains three business layers for maximum solution flexibility:
- Pivotal Interface Services: Supports the full range of data presentation and user access options including Web, wireless, and Windows through ActiveX, XML, XSL, and WML standards.
- Pivotal Application Services: Supports all system security, business rules and workflow through COM and Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) standards to ensure extendibility and deployability of new system rules and workflow.
- Pivotal Data Services: Supports all database transactions, including reads, writes, commits, roll backs, etc requested through the Pivotal Application and Interface Services.
