The launch of the Pivotal Demand Chain Management solution, Oracle Edition will allow Pivotal Corporation to target the $2.4 billion Oracle database market with an application designed to give companies the choice of implementing the Pivotal solution suite on the Oracle 8i database, the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database, or a combination of both.

“Pivotal's market opportunity just expanded significantly. Prospects and partners have been telling use that they are searching for more cost-effective alternatives to incumbent vendors on the Oracle database platform. Now, our direct sales force, sales partners, and first-rate systems integrators can meet this market demand with a proven solution that provides rapid business impact,” according to Norm Francis, president and CEO, Pivotal.

The product was created to integrate marketing, sales and service processes within a scalable and flexible architecture that enables Oracle-centric companies to maximize their exiting investment. The n-tiered, modular architecture is based on the latest industry standards including COM+, XML SOAP and Web services. The architecture includes a data services layer that manages all data transactions; an application layer that manages business rules and workflow; and a presentation layer that defines the end user experience. The capabilities of the data services layer allows Pivotal to support multiple heterogeneous database platforms within a single customer implementation.

The core of the solution architecture is the Pivotal Demand Chain Platform, which contains three business layers for maximum solution flexibility:

  • Pivotal Interface Services: Supports the full range of data presentation and user access options including Web, wireless, and Windows through ActiveX, XML, XSL, and WML standards.
  • Pivotal Application Services: Supports all system security, business rules and workflow through COM and Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) standards to ensure extendibility and deployability of new system rules and workflow.
  • Pivotal Data Services: Supports all database transactions, including reads, writes, commits, roll backs, etc requested through the Pivotal Application and Interface Services.

Pivotal Corporation enables large- and medium-sized businesses to make, serve, and manage customers by providing XML-based demand chain networks that deliver personalized customer experiences across every touch point in real-time.
