Artie Trakas and Mark Harrison are joining Viewgate Networks, a provider of service provider-hosted, customer-focused service assurance solutions. The company also announced the promotion of Paul Archer to its senior management team.

Trakas will lead the U.S. sales effort as vice president of U.S. Sales while Harrison will lead the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) sales effort as vice president, EMEA Sales. Archer has been promoted to vice president, EMEA Marketing.

A seasoned telecommunications executive, Trakas’ career has spanned over 19 years in sales and management. Prior to joining the Alexandria, Va.-based Viewgate, he served as vice president of Worldwide Sales for Osicom Technologies and sits on the board of directors for Osicom Europe.

During his tenure with Osicom, Trakas played a key role in the successful spin-offs and IPOs of Netsilicon, Sorrento Networks, and Entrada Networks. Prior to Osicom, Trakas held senior sales management positions at Rockwell Network Systems and Wang Laboratories.

Harrison joins Viewgate from Micromuse where he honed his sales and leadership skills as sales director of European Major Accounts Group, and prior to that as regional manager for Northern Europe. He spent more than five years with Micromuse, where he was responsible for many of the initial Netcool sales into continental Europe and was one of the key drivers behind Micromuse’s success in this marketplace.

Archer joined Viewgate from Cable & Wireless three years ago and has played a variety of official and unofficial roles during the past few years, including account manager, sales manager, sales engineer and most recently director of product management.
