Watch Hill Partners, a Providence, R.I., technology consulting firm specializing in customer relationship management (CRM),
has raised $3 million in first-round financing from Ascent Venture Partners.

The investment was attractive “because (Watch Hill) had a clear business plan on how to service companies that were looking for alternatives to the big players,”
said Chris Lynch, Ascent’s managing director. “The combination of their innovative use of wireless technology and proven experience in CRM is impressive.”

Watch Hill was founded by Brad Waugh, a former exec at Akibia, a Westborough, Mass., CRM consulting firm, and Covansys, a Farmington Hills, Mich, integrator
and Seth Henry, formerly of Akibia and C-bridge Internet Solutions, a Boston Internet consultancy.

The firm aims to give high-touch service that larger competitors may not be able to. Watch Hill targets financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals customers in the
ranks of the Fortune 1000. Most of its business is in New England and New York.

“This relationship sets the foundation to build on our vision of a selective consultancy that assigns senior staff to stay on projects for the duration,” Waugh said.
“We’ve already had a great response from our initial clients for both the experience and dedication we bring to addressing their business and technology challenges.”
