CA Integrates Project Management with Salesforce Chatter

CA (NASDAQ: CA) has expanded its Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) solution by incorporating collaboration capabilities with (NYSE: CRM) Chatter integration.

Salesforce Chatter is the cloud CRM vendor’s Facebook-like private social network for enterprise collaboration. By integrating the CA PPM solution with Salesforce Chatter, CA Technologies said it is responding to the new way companies are communicating and collaborating using social technologies.

“As organizations blend agile and traditional development to meet competitive demands, it’s imperative that teams collaborate and share ideas, requirements and status updates in a meaningful forum,” said Brian Bell, CA’s general manager of service and portfolio management. “Integrating Chatter with our PPM solution helps manage collaboration across the innovation life-cycle.”

Other new features in the CA Project and Portfolio Management include deeper integration with leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to bring in critical resource information to facilitate portfolio planning and decision-making.

This addresses the growing need of many organizations to have a better integration strategy for data from multiple sources, including SAP and Oracle. Pre-built ERP adapters from CA Technologies and Pervasive Software enable organizations to maximize the business intelligence from data investments, CA Technologies said.

The CA Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) solution includes capabilities from CA Clarity PPM (delivered on demand or on premises) and CA Technologies PPM-related cloud applications, CA Idea Vision and the Spring 2011 releases of CA Agile Vision and CA Product Vision.
