Opentaps has released version 1.5 of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system — based on Apache OFBiz 10.04 and Tomcat 6.0.26 and designed to run in the Amazon Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2). According to The H Online, opentaps claims that the supplied default templates could allow a company to set up an ERP and CRM system in as little as 15 minutes. Choosing the ‘by the hour’ rate for use of the Amazon EC2 would allow a company to get started using the system with very little initial investment.

“New features in 1.5 include: configuration parameters in database entities that allow system administrators to easily change store configuration; the web user interface is now stored in the database, allowing customization of the opentaps user interface or new modules to be loaded without code changes; and, controller injection that allows the addition of features to core opentaps applications through independent modules.”
