Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) this week released its PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials and Supply Chain Management (FSCM) 9.1 Feature Pack 2011, and also began quietly rolling out its long-awaited Fusion Applications.

Oracle says PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 is the most significant release of PeopleSoft in the last ten years, and has been adopted more than four times faster than previous PeopleSoft releases. More than 1,200 customers are deploying PeopleSoft 9.1, and 350 new customers have been added in the last year.

Oracle now plans to deliver Feature Packs between major releases, which will let customers add new capabilities without the need for a major upgrade. The PeopleSoft FSCM 9.1 Feature Pack 2011 includes a new installation version, recertification of upgrade scripts and additional support for customers upgrading to PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1.

Among the features of the new release, PeopleSoft Mobile Inventory Management is a new application within the PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management suite that helps improve inventory accuracy and labor productivity by automating mobile inventory transactions for users of Microsoft Windows-enabled mobile devices and handheld scanners.

Oracle’s Hyperion Planning is now integrated with PeopleSoft Financials 9.1 so customers can plan and manage budgets at all levels. Hyperion Disclosure Management has also been integrated with PeopleSoft Financials to support XBRL financial statement reporting to regulatory bodies. And Hyperion Financial Close Management can now help PeopleSoft customers improve the management of period close tasks.

Also this week, Oracle announced that it has begun rolling out its long-awaited Fusion Applications, with more than 50 customers getting a head start through an Oracle early adopter program. The Fusion Applications figured prominently in this week’s Collaborate 11 conference.
