Oracle Grabs Involver, Its Third Social CRM Startup in Two Months

It’s shaping up to be the spring and summer of social CRM acquisitions, several of them made by Oracle.

Yesterday Oracle announced it was buying Involver, a company that provides social marketing applications. The purchase comes barely a month after Oracle bought Collective Intellect, a provider of social intelligence services. And in late May Oracle purchased Vitrue, which provides a platform that helps companies align their marketing efforts across popular social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter.

The services of all three companies will likely become part of the Oracle Cloud, which the software giant launched last month.

While Oracle has been the most active acquirer of social CRM companies, it hasn’t been the only one. Last month Salesforce.com bought Buddy Media, a provider of social media marketing software it said enjoys significant customer overlap with Radian6, a social CRM company Salesforce purchased in March of 2011. Yesterday Salesforce acquired GoInstant, a Canadian company that offers technology for adding social components like chat to e-commerce, customer support and sales activities.
