According to this SmartData Collective report on social business intelligence, BI
and the systems and firms that collect data are headed in a new direction with
the inclusion of social media conversations. Today, business intelligence sources are competing with new sources – Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media platforms.

He indicates these channels are the next big thing to be used in developing business intelligence strategies.
