Business intelligence solutions from Cognos® will aid Canadian wireless company TELUS Mobility with enterprise reporting, analysis, and CRM initiatives.

The deployed self-serve solutions, Cognos Impromptu, Impromptu Web Reports®, PowerPlay Enterprise Server and PowerPlay®, will enable TELUS Mobility's sales and marketing departments to enact a flexible Web-based system, effectively using the stored data from more than 2.3 million customers, while also monitoring internal key performance indicators.

“TELUS Mobility wanted to standardize on a single business intelligence vendor and Cognos offered the most flexible, powerful solution available,” said Victor Antunes, manager, decision support and data warehouse, TELUS Mobility Corporation.

Cognos Impromptu is a dual-component reporting system, creating business-context reports that can be delivered across the Web for large groups. The online analytical processing capability of Cognos PowerPlay enables users at any business or technical skill level to explore large volumes of summarized data in a Web, Windows, or Excel environment.

“By deploying Cognos, TELUS Mobility has extended their ability to monitor and anticipate the changing needs of their client base and share that information internally to maximize marketing and sales initiatives,” said Alan Rottenberg, senior vice president, e-business applications unit, Cognos. “This agreement further emphasizes the enterprise nature of Cognos' reporting and analysis solutions and the value they deliver in strengthening the competitive advantages of corporations across all industries.”

TELUS Mobility connects Canadians through a full suite of consumer and business telecommunications products and services — data, Internet Protocol, voice and wireless.

Ottowa-based Cognos provides business intelligence solutions to 18,000+ customers in more than 120 countries around the world.
