AppMesh, a startup founded by two Salesforce veterans, wants to shake up the CRM market with its mobile-only application.

As demand for mobile CRM kicks into high gear, AppMesh is betting its mobile solution will help it gain traction in a CRM market largely dominated by Salesforce.com.

The San Francisco startup, which was founded by Salesforce veterans Leo Tenenblat and Tom Tobin, just completed a $3 million Series A funding round led by InterWest Partners, a venture capital firm headed by former Siebel Systems executive Bruce Cleveland. Other investors included several executive members of the Siebel Systems Founders' Circle and TDF Ventures.

The investing executive team will join the newly-formed AppMesh Advisory Board.

AppMesh launched its mobile-only CRM software in April, and to date has raised a total of $4 million

One of the software's biggest selling points is its ability to offer users access to their sales and customer data even with no Wi-Fi or cellular connection.

"AppMesh is transforming the way salespeople work by building CRM geared specifically to ease the pain points of the sales representative rather than for the sales management team. We deliver information to the salesperson and offer the most intuitive, accessible and efficient way to organize customer engagement information," said Tenenblat, the company's CEO. "With this investment, we will focus on increasing the level of functionality within our platform to further empower salespeople that are embracing the mobile era."

AppMesh's software integrates with iOS productivity apps like calendar and email. Users can bring together information from their calendars and address books, and also import contact information from Salesforce systems. Though it does not currently sync with Salesforce or other CRM systems, the company says it is considering adding this functionality. The mobile CRM app also offers the ability to bcc or forward emails from any email client to link them to customers inside AppMesh.

While currently only iOS is supported, the company says it intends to add Android support. AppMesh is free of charge for individuals and teams of up to five and can be downloaded via iTunes.
