EasyAsk, a Littleton, Mass., developer of search technology for e-commerce sites, has signed a customer deal with Talbots, a Hingham, Mass., clothing retailer and catalog company.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
“We’re very pleased that Talbots recognized the value that precise search from EasyAsk could bring,” said Bob Alperin, EasyAsk CEO. “In
the current economy, technology investments that increase revenues and customer loyalty are especially critical.”
EasyAsk’s product helps customers search Talbot’s Web site more efficiently. For example, a shopper can type in basic information such as, “red sweater under
$100,” and get accurate results.
The offering can also be integrated to the retailer’s inventory system, to present only items that are in stock, or to highlight special offers. The company said sites
using its technology see higher conversion rates and larger orders.
EasyAsk is privately held and backed by Sigma Venture Partners and OneLiberty Ventures. Customers include Lands’ End, Coldwater Creek and wine.com by
e-Vineyard. It has also licensed its core technology to large companies such as Verizon and FedEx.
