IBM has made several key acquisitions this year, many of which were aimed at expanding Big Blue’s analytics business. Today, IBM launched Cognos 10, the latest play by the company to be a major contender in the wide-open business intelligence market.

Cognos 10 enables quick responses to changing business conditions by enabling end users to access analytics software from their mobile devices and share the information via social networks, according to Bloomberg. The software is compatible with RIM’s BlackBerry portfolio as well as Apple’s iPhone and iPad devices. Mike Vizard at IT Business Edge says that through its latest version of Cognos, IBM is making a case for pervasive business intelligence.
