Salesforce Buys Model Metrics for Social, Mobile Cloud

Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) is acquiring Model Metrics, a mobile and social cloud consulting services company.
The cloud CRM leader is positioning the acquisition as part of its vision for the “social enterprise.”
“The addition of Model Metrics’ mobile and social expertise will accelerate Salesforce.com’s ability to lead the shift to the social enterprise and empower partners to develop their social enterprise practice,” Salesforce COO George Hu said in a statement.
Eight-year-old Model Metrics “pioneered the business process and technology alignment required to help companies accelerate their adoption of cloud computing,” according to Salesforce. The company recognized the importance of mobile and social technologies “and began to focus on strategic app development and deployment.”
Today, Model Metrics has more than 500 customers, including Blue Shield of California, Heidrick & Struggles and Standard Register, and has completed more than 1,000 Salesforce deployments for companies of all sizes, including some of the Fortune 100.
The Model Metrics team will join Salesforce.com’s strategic services organization, where they will focus on “developing and sharing best practices with partners to accelerate social enterprise success,” Salesforce said. The company’s partners “will be able to leverage Model Metrics’ expertise in mobile and social design conception, user experience, business process alignment, and frameworks for building employee and customer facing apps.”
Model Metrics also boasts partnerships with Amazon Web Services, Adobe, Apple, and Google. The company builds multimedia-rich applications for the Force.com, Adobe Flex and AIR, Amazon Web Services, Google and Apple iPhone platforms.
The deal is expected to close by the end of January.
